Four bank branches in the North East are to be shut down as the personal finance industry shifts the balance between online and in-person services.

Today, TSB has said it will be shutting 36 bank branches nationwide in efforts to move to a better balance of digital and face-to-face services.

Amongst the closures are branches in Crook, in County Durham, and Newcastle, in Tyne and Wear.

The Crook branch, located on North Terrace, will close in May next year.

The Newcastle branch, Milvain, will shut in the coming September.

Further afield, the TSB Amble and Bedlington branches are also set to close in May 2025.

The business said its customers were now doing most of their banking digitally.

The latest round of closures will leave the group with 175 branches across the country, as well as other face-to-face banking services.
